Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!
Psalm 150:1-2

From Pastor Dave

Dear Friends,

This will be a week for some general announcements!

Congregational Meeting following our Worship Service this Sunday, October 23: Our Session has voted to call a congregational meeting, We will be putting before the members of the congregation a proposal for the future of our congregation, including the things we will emphasize, a proposed staffing model, and steps toward funding the initiative. Please plan to be in attendance for the worship service, and the meeting to follow.

Consecration Sunday on Sunday, November 6, 2016: Since 2016 was an Olympic year, we're using an Olympic image for our budget hopes and dreams for 2017: Gold, Silver, and Bronze! Part of the reason for having a Consecration Sunday event is to invite the congregation to see financial stewardship as an expression of spiritual formation. On Consecration Sunday, we'll talk about the hopes and dreams for New Springs Community in the year ahead. A "bronze" goal would be to fully fund our current budget, plus fund some additional expenses that we've needed to make in 2016. A "silver" goal would increase that amount, to include some strategic additions to the staff that our leaders feel are necessary for us to grow the ministry God has given. Even though our church is over one year old, we are in many ways still a start up. We'd love to plan and staff like a focused and committed organization for the year ahead, fully staffed for the things we believe God could do in our community. Going for gold? A gold goal for our 2017 budget would include current expenses, staffing additions, and some needed maintenance items around our church property.

Our Consecration Sunday event and our congregational meeting this Sunday will work hand in hand. This Sunday, we'll explain the goals in detail, and provide the numbers as well. The congregation will get to "vote" in three ways! The first, of course, will be your vote to approve the recommendations of the Session at this Sunday's meeting. The second "vote" will be in our Consecration Sunday estimates of giving for the coming year. Our third "vote," of course, will be as we trust God to help us fulfill those estimates. Please plan to be in attendance for our Consecration Sunday worship service on November 6, and for the congregational meal to follow.

Ronda's Resignation: Ronda Moore has announced her resignation as our church secretary. She served in that role at New Summit Church from 2007 until 2015, and has served New Springs Community in that capacity since 2015. She has shared the role with Charlotte Palmer, with Charlotte coming to the office on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Ronda coming in on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Her primary responsibilities have been in the area of communication: bulletin, newsletter, website, and assistance with payroll and payables. Ronda is a great team member, and we'll miss her in the office. Thanks so much, Ronda, for who you are and for all of the different ways you have served our congregation with humility and a Christlike spirit.

Please keep all of these events, meetings, announcements and initiatives in prayer. Be present for the events and meetings- your participation is important to the mission of our congregation. Be prayerful about the commitments that God is calling you to make.

In Christ's Love,

Pastor Dave
