This week I have more of an "odds and ends" list of things to share. These are not in order of priority, by the way!
First, a HUGE thank you to Pastor Corey and to the others who helped out with the ongoing remodel of our worship space. Corey is such a positive and motivating spirit. He's pretty darn good with a paintbrush, too! If you haven't been by our church facility recently, you really need to come and see our new welcome area and cafe. I know some others were involved: Russ and Aimee Starr, Erica McDonald, Mike O'Shea, Randy Hutsell, Aaron Heilman. So, thanks to all! Remember that we still have work to do, and volunteers are always appreciated!
Second, remember that this weekend is Memorial Day. Many of us are looking forward to a three day weekend, and that is the way in which our society tends to look at these holidays. But remember that the day is intended as a day of remembrance and gratitude, a recognition of those who have given their lives in the service of our country. We enjoy so many freedoms and so much opportunity, and none of it is possible without those sacrifices. Yes, we have much to change as well. In the spirit of those who have given their lives, let's resolve to be part of a nation that continues to appreciate what is right and good; while also resolving to be part of the changes that help us to be better.
Finally, we have an exciting summer ahead, and some exciting plans for the fall as well! This summer will be a time for growing and building relationships. Look forward to a number of opportunities for us to gather, to meet others, and to share some fun times. Our Day Camp is right around the corner. If you know someone who has just finished Kindergarten through 6th grade, invite them to participate. Let us know if there are any who would like to participate but are financially challenged. We'll keep everyone informed of activities throughout the summer through our newsletter, worship bulletins, the website, and the church Facebook pages.
